February Events at the ELANCO Library 

The Eastern Lancaster County Library is located at 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, PA. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. Most events are free, but require advance registration. Unos Cuentos: A Bilingual Storytime Thursday, February 1 at 10:30 a.m. Ages 1-5 This is a Spanish storytime, with stories in English and Spanish. Spanish speakers and non-Spanish speakers are welcome! Disfrute de un sesión de cuentos en inglés y español. Bienvenida hablantes de español e inglés Friday

Frolic for Toddlers Fridays: February 2, 9, 16, & 23 at 10:30 a.m. For walking toddlers ages 1-3 with a caregiver

Get ready to move! Toddlers will dance, zoom, scoot and hop between stories selected to promote language development. All adults are expected to participate and encourage the children to join in the fun.

Stay and Play Fridays: February 2, 9, 16 & 23 at 11 a.m. For Toddlers & Preschoolers Approximately 15 minutes after the Friday Frolic for Toddlers ends, we’ll bring out the BIG BOX of toys! Stay and play with us until lunch time!

Sensory Story Time Saturday, February 3 at 9 a.m. Best for Ages 3-8, but all ages are welcome! This story time is designed to engage children through movement, music, stories, and sensory activity play. It’s especially great for children with sensory input delays or for those who have problems sitting still. This program is funded by the Kiwanis Club of New Holland. Readers’

Roundtable Book Discussion Monday, February 5 at 7 p.m. The Readers’ Roundtable meets in the downstairs board room of the ELANCO Library. In February, we’ll be discussing Glory Over Everything by Kathleen Grissom. Everyone is welcome to join us!

Preschool Story Time Tuesdays: February 6, 13, 20, & 27 at 10:30 a.m. For ages 3-5 with a caregiver Children are invited to enjoy themed books, songs, rhymes, movement activities, or a craft while building language and literacy skills.

Teen Tuesdays Tuesdays: February 6, 13, 20, & 27 at 3 p.m.-5 p.m. For grades 7-12 Teens are invited to chill out, hang out and geek out in the library after school.

Parachute Play Wednesday, February 7 at 10:30 a.m. For walking toddlers, ages 1-3 Not your typical storytime! We will be playing with parachutes, singing songs, and having fun! Parachute Play helps children develop gross motor skills, learn to work together, have imaginative play, develop spatial awareness and express themselves.

Playful Building Wednesday, February 7 at 6:30 p.m. For Grades K-6 Young “engineers” will plan their dream community park and design and build simple machines used in play.

Writing Club Thursday, February 8 at 6:30 p.m. Ages 10 and older Each meeting will begin with short exercises to get your creative juices flowing. We’ll also spend some time writing independently and share what we’re working on.

Lego® Creation Club Monday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. Family event for ages 3 and up Join our Lego® Design Team! Once a month, we’ll build creations out of Lego® Bricks that will be displayed in the Library.

Hooks & Needles: Yarn Crafting Club Monday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. All Ages Welcome Our knitting club is open to all knitters and crocheters in all skill levels…even absolute beginners! Bring your own projects, tips, and ideas to share.

It’s SEW Much Fun! Wednesday, February 14 at 6:30 p.m. For Grades K-6 We will learn very beginner sewing skills and create a burlap pillow!

Crafternoon Thursday, February 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For All Ages Come down to the library for a drop-in craft!

Teen Dungeons and Dragons Club Thursday, February 15 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Grades 7 to 12 This is a club for teens who love to play this tabletop role-playing game! Never played before? You’re welcome to join us and find out more about D&D.

Block Party- Preschool STEM Event Thursday, February 15 at 6:30 p.m. Ages 3-6 Playing is learning! Play and build with our amazing new wooden block collection. Preschoolers have fun, while at the same time strengthen vocabulary, problem solving abilities, and social skills. Come see what it is all about and have some CONSTRUCTIVE FUN!

Teen Karaoke Friday, February 16 at 2 p.m. For Grades 7-12 The ELANCO Schools are closed! Teens, come to the library to sing your heart out. Snacks will be provided.

Seussical Story Time with Cavod Academy Saturday, February 17 at 1 p.m. Family Event for All Ages We’ll celebrate all things Dr. Seuss at this special story time with actors from the upcoming Cavod Academy production of Seussical the Musical! We’ll hear stories by Dr. Seuess and make a craft. Plus, get your photo taken with the characters in the play!

Marvelous Math Monday, February 19 at 6:30 p.m. Grades 5-8 Come and explore math at the library! We will do some math related projects.

STEM Story Time Wednesday, February 21 at 10:30 a.m. Ages 3-5 Preschoolers are invited to hear stories about Curious George and space travel, then build and launch their own air-powered rockets!

Teen Chopped Wednesday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m. For Grades 7-12 Registration is required for this event. Come and enter this food competition. Teens will be paired up and use only three ingredients to create an appetizer and dessert. Ingredients are included. No cooking required!

Teen Trivia Night Thursday, February 22 at 6:30 p.m. Grades 7-12 Teens, take the ultimate trivia challenge! Each round of questions will cover music, movies, books, pop culture, and other current happenings. We will split into different teams and see who knows more.

Teen Advisory Group Monday, February 26 at 6:30 p.m. For Grades 7-12 Help plan future teen events at the library.
