July Events at the ELANCO Library
The Eastern Lancaster County Library is located at 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, PA. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.
Most events are free, but require advance registration. To register, stop by the circulation desk at the library, call 717-354-0525, or register online at www.elancolibrary.org.
The ELANCO Library will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Fourth of July.
Summer Storytime
Tuesdays: July 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30 at 10:30 a.m.
For ages 3-8 but all ages welcome!
Join us this summer for books, songs, rhymes, movement activities, or a craft based on our Summer Reading Program theme- Universe of Stories! Have bunches of fun while building language and literacy skills!
Play K- Kindergarten Readiness

For Children Entering Kindergarten in Fall 2019
Get ready for Kindergarten! Preschoolers are invited to play and learn the needed skills for Kindergarten success. This program is made available by the Cruise into Kindergarten initiative through Pennsylvania Public Libraries.
Teen Tuesdays
Tuesdays: July 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
For grades 6-12
Teens are invited to chill out, hang out and geek out in the library this summer.
Preschool Math Games
Wednesdays: July 3, 10, 17, 24, & 31 at 4 p.m.
For Ages 3-6
We are going to go over counting, basic addition, and number recognition. We will play games, do crafts and read stories!
Friday Frolic for Toddlers
Fridays: July 5, 12, 19, & 26 at 10:30 a.m.
For walking toddlers ages 1-3 with a caregiver
Get ready to move! Toddlers will dance, zoom, scoot and hop between stories selected to promote language development. All adults are expected to participate and encourage the children to join in the fun.

For Toddlers & Preschoolers
A few minutes after the Friday Frolic for Toddlers ends, we’ll bring out the BIG BOX of toys! Stay and play with us until lunch time!
Teen After-Hours: Star Party!
Friday, July 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
For Grades 6-12
Registration is required for this event. We will have crafts and learn some constellations. We will also talk about astrology; what it means and what is your sign. If that’s not your jam, that’s okay! We will have games, food, and friends.
Therapy Dogs Visit the Library
Saturday, July 6 at 10:30 a.m.
Family Event for All Ages
Kids are invited to improve their reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog. The dogs and handlers are from K-Pets.
Dungeons and Dragons Club

During the summer, we will be offering two different sessions. The original session on Thursdays has been extended. Food will be provided. This is a club for people who love to play this tabletop role-playing game! Never played before? You’re welcome to join us and find out more about D&D.

Zumba at the Library
Saturday, July 6 at 10:30 a.m.
For Adults 16+
Join us at the library for FREE Zumba! Chair Zumba combines strength and resistance training with innovative dance moves, using a chair as your dance partner. This class will be taught by certified instructor Carcy Vreeland. Advance registration is required with a signed liability form. Forms are available at the library, or you may download and fill out a form on our website. All levels welcome!
Kite Flying
Monday, July 8 at 1 p.m.
For Ages 5+
Meet us at the library and we will talk about flying a kite. Then, we will walk over to the park and try to fly our kites! There will be a few provided, but please feel free to bring your own.

Exploring the Night

What creatures lurk out on night? What does nocturnal mean? Stop by to see real animal fur, learn some facts about some night patroling animals, and do some activities.
Preschool Lab: A STEM Storytime

We will tinker and play while we learn about different STEM topics. Every program will start with a few books and end with an activity, such as games, crafts, or even toys.
Duplo Free Play

Robotics with Girl Scouts

Kids Creative Theater- Week Long Theater Workshop
Monday-Thursday July 15, 16, 17, & 18 at 12 p.m. and Friday, July 19 at 10 a.m.
Ages 8-12
A week-long theater workshop where we’ll learn theater basics: acting, set design, costume, and make-up. On the last day, we’ll put on a real play! Children must attend every session.
Astronaut Training Camp
Monday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m.
Family Event for All Ages
We will have a short storytime, followed by some activities. Astronauts in training will get a chance to taste test space activities, participate in physical activities, and launch paper rockets.
Essential Oils Make & Take- Clay Pendant Diffuser
Monday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m.
For Adults 16+
Registration is required. Seating and supplies limited to 8 guests. Come play with clay! In this class, we’ll make a clay pendant diffuser. Make and take home goodies: one clay pendant diffuser, essential oil sample of your choice.
Science Exploration

For 2-5 year olds
This is a STEM event for little ones. We will have different areas for children to explore some basic STEM concepts. Each station will have some questions to help caregivers encourage children into the scientific process.
Block Party- Preschool STEM Event

Come build with wooden blocks! Wooden blocks teach math and engineering schools –even to preschoolers!
Teen After-Hours: Mandala Painting
Friday, July 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
For Grades 6-12
Space is limited and registration is required for this event; there is a $5 materials fee. Wendy from Inspire Me Design Co. will be coming in to help you step by step to create a beautiful piece of mandala art. All materials are included for this class.
2019 Shoe-Fly 5 Mile Race
Saturday, July 20 at 8 a.m.
This is a challenging 5 mile course that starts in the town of Terre Hill and takes you through the surrounding farmland. Proceeds benefit the Eastern Lancaster County Library in New Holland, PA. Registration is $20 per person until July 1 and includes a t-shirt. After July 1, registration prices increases to $25 and t-shirts will be available while supplies last. Sink or Float: Titanic Edition

Planet Power with Lancaster Parks and Rec

For Grades K-6
Children will spend half the hour learning about each planet in our solar system and then make their own planet! Space is limited. Registration is required.
Instrument Petting Zoo
Wednesday, July 24 at 10:30 a.m.
For Ages 3+
Siblings are welcomed. Children will get an introduction to the orchestra from a short storytime. Afterward, the children will meet some musicians, who will talk about their own instruments.
